Brazil won France 3-0 to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
Coming from a massive win against Fiji, Brazil claimed all three points to make it six from two games.
First half goals from Natalia Vendito and another from Priscilla in the second half, secured the win for Brazil.
The South Americans became the first nation through to the second round at Colombia 2024 as they breeze past France.
Barely 20 minutes into the game, Brazil were two goals up, courtesy of Vendito’s brace. She became leader of the Golden Boot race, with four goals from two games.
Brazil opened the scoring in the seventh minute as Milena surged into the box, squared to Vendito who back-heeled home.
Vendito got her second in the game when Gi Fernandes squared another ball to her, before blasting past Feerine Belhadj.
France tried to pull one back but could not get on target and were punished later by the Brazilians. The South Americans killed things off as a corner met Priscila, who tucked it home at the back post.
Howbeit, Vitoria Amaral is suspended for her nation’s final group outing after a late booking. Brazil will go against Canada on Friday as they hope to top the Group B table.
France will however need to defeat Fiji by huge margin and hope for a Canada loss to seal their qualification.
The other Group B game saw Canada thrashed Fiji, scoring nine goals against the Oceanians.
Annabelle Chukwu scored a hat-trick and had two assists in just 45 minutes as Canada won 9-o against Fiji in a much-dominated game.
Canada sits on second place with have four points from two matches, while Fiji remain on the hunt for their first points.
Olivia Smith opened the scoring for Canada in spectacular fashion by powering past a trio of Fiji defenders and firing home. Midway through the half, Chukwu scored her first by connecting on a cross from Kayla Briggs. Minutes later Smith bagged her second of the night with a laser from outside the area past Fiji goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma.
Canada’s first half was capped in style as Chukwu completed her hat-trick in the 41st minute with a strong right-footed finish. She joins Vendito as joint top scorer of the tournament, with four goals.
The first half ended with a 7-0 scoreline as Chukwu and Smith were substituted before the start of the second half.
The Canada attack kept rolling in the second half, starting with an Ella Ottey goal, followed by a strike from distance by Ella McBride make it 9-0.
Canada will need a point against already qualified Brazil, to qualify for the next round.
Fiji have conceded 18 goals in two games, and have not a single goal in the tournament.
