The Brooklyn Nets had a disappointing 2023-2024 season, finishing with a 32-50 record, which was 13th in the Eastern Conference. The team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021 and struggled with consistency and injuries to key players. Mikal Bridges was the team’s top performer, but was traded to the Knicks mid-season, Spencer Dinwiddie led the team in scoring, but was inconsistent.

The team’s defense struggled, ranking 25th in the league in points allowed per game. The Nets had a poor home record, winning only 16 games at the Barclays Center.

Overall, it was a tough season for the Nets, and they’re now in rebuild mode as they look to retool their roster and return to competitiveness.

The Brooklyn Nets made the following re-signings:

– Spencer Dinwiddie (agreed to a 2-year, $40 million contract extension)
– Nic Claxton (agreed to a 2-year, $20 million contract extension)

– Alondes Williams (agreed to a 2-year, $4.5 million contract extension)

Additionally, the Nets also signed Yongxi “Jacky” Cui (to a two-way contract), a 21-year-old Chinese shooting guard, and Darius Bazley a 23-year-old forward. Cui is a sharp-shooter who averaged 15.6 PPG in the ’23-24 season, while Bazley is a defense-first wing who’s known for his athleticism.

The Brooklyn Nets had a few departures recently, including:

– Mikal Bridges, who was traded to the Knicks.
– Keita Bates-Diop, who left for the Knicks.
– Lonnie Walker IV, who joined the Celtics.
– Mamadi Diakite, who was involved in a trade.
– Jacob Gilyard and Dennis Smith Jr., who are currently unsigned free agents.

These changes are part of the team’s rebuild efforts, with a focus on gradual improvement and a strong performance in the 2025 draft.
