Korea DPR defeated Brazil by a lone goal to advance to the semi-finals of the 2024 U20 Women’s World Cup.

Chae Un-yong’s early second half goal proved enough to push Korea DPR past a tough Brazilian defence.

The North Koreans enjoyed a commanding performance against their Brazilian counterparts in the quarter-finals at Medellin, Columbia.

However, they could not get their usual high number goals as they faced a stiff Brazilian defence.

The Asians were close to scoring in the first half when Jon Ryong-jong sent a shot over the crossbar. They continued pushing to break the deadlock but the Brazilians walls could not be broken in the first half.

With just four minutes into the second interval, Korea DPR would not be denied the lead. Chae Un-yong got the goal as she did well to chest down a cross and fire a well-struck left-footed effort past Rillary in the Brazil goal.

The one goal advantage was enough for the Asians as they were denied continuously by the Brazilians and an overturned penalty call.

They were able to book their spot in the last four and would be facing USA.
