Serhou Guirassy scored twice and won a penalty as Borussia Dortmund overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Bochum 4-2 in the Bundesliga.
Coming from a 5-1 demolishing from Stuttgart, Dortmund produced an incredible fight to win their league game against local rivals.
After conceding two early goals, coach Nuri Sahin seemed to be mounting pressure on his team, which paid off as they won 4-2.
In the space of five minutes, Matus Bero put Bochum ahead before Dani de Wit made it 2-0 after teammate Myron Boadu had snatched the ball off Dortmund’s goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.
Dortmund put one back before halftime to start the fight for the comeback. Guirassy scored with a header to reduce the deficit for Sahin’s side.
The former Stuttgart striker was fouled afterwards in the box, allowing Emre Can to level up for Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund turned the table around as they took the lead from a counter attack. Karim Adeyemi playing a perfect through-ball for Guirassy to make it 3-2 with a shot between goalkeeper Patrick Drewes’ legs.
The German giant doubled the lead as Drewes fumbled, allowing Felix Nmecha’s shot roll over the line for Dortmund’s fourth.
Dortmund rises to second in the table ahead of the weekend’s games, behind only Bayern Munich. The last season Champions League runner up will open their campaign at home to Scottish club Celtic on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Bochum is second-to-last in the Bundesliga table, with only a point under new coach Peter Zeidler.
