Manchester United really needed that last-minute header from Harry Maguire to secure a 3-3 draw against Porto in the Europa League. The night was filled with familiar challenges for Erik ten Hag’s side, including another red card for Bruno Fernandes.

United began the match impressively, dominating the opening 20 minutes and scoring twice to quiet the home fans. Marcus Rashford, before being substituted at halftime for what his manager called rotation, opened the scoring in the seventh minute. He dribbled through Porto defense and scored with a shot that slipped under goalkeeper Diogo Costa.

Rashford then assisted Rasmus Højlund for United’s second goal, with Costa again at fault. However, as seen several times under Ten Hag, United quickly squandered their two-goal lead. especially struggling to deal with crosses. Porto’s Pepe scored in the 27th minute from close range.

Almost immediately after Andre Onana had initially saved a header from Noussair Mazraoui. Just seven minutes later, Samu Omorodion equalized with a powerful header inside the six-yard box.

Things worsened for United when Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a red card following a high challenge, marking his second red card in a week. Despite the chaos, Maguire’s late header salvaged a draw. For Ten Hag, the performance may still be a concern.
