Senegal defeated 10-man side Malawi 4-0 in Group L’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, at Stade Me Abdoulaye Wade.
Goals from Papa Gueye, Sadio Mane, Boulaye Dia and Nicolas Jackson gave Senegal the dominating victory.
The Teranga Lions started the game strongly as they pushed for an early goal, prompting Malawi to sit back on the edge of their own area.
Malawi were however reduced to 10 men in the 16th minute after goalkeeper Brighton Munthali fouled Sadio Mane. Patrick Mwaungulu was then subbed for goalkeeper George Chokooka as Senegal continued to apply pressure.
Senegal finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute, with goal from Pap Gueye. Iliman Ndiaye picked out the midfielder who subsequently placed his left-footed shot in the top right-hand corner of the goal.
The African giants doubled their advantage in the 68th minute as Mane joined Gueye on the scoresheet. The Al Nassr forward sent a left-footed effort from the centre of the 18-yard-area into the net.
Senegal made it three few minutes after, as Boulaye Dia slotted home with a close-range finish in minute 71. Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson added the fourth to seal the victory over Malawi’s ten men side.
