Shakhtar Donetsk general director Sergiy Palkin has confirmed that Manchester City are keen on signing Georgiy Sudakov.
The 22-year-old Ukraine international has been in excellent form since the beginning of the 2024-25 season. He has already contributed to nine goals in 11 appearances across all competitions, showing consistent performance.
His impressive performance have caught the attention of reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, as confirmed by Shakhtar chief Palkin.
Man City are in need of a high-quality midfield player and are likely to enter the transfer market again during the January window. This urgency increased after Rodri suffered an ACL injury during a Premier League match against Arsenal, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
In an interview, Palkin stated: “Manchester City is interested in him, and other clubs from England are also watching him. I’m sure several clubs will make offers for him during the transfer window.”
Palkin also disclosed that Shakhtar came close to selling Sudakov during the summer transfer window, but the deal fell through. “Six months ago we negotiated a transfer with SSC Napoli, but that didn’t work out,” he added.
After a tense Premier League victory over Wolves last weekend, Manchester City will now turn their attention to the Champions League. They will face Slavia Praha at home on Wednesday, hoping to carry enough strenght into Europe.
