Kennedy Fuller and Kimmi Ascanio’s goals gifted USA a win over Nigeria, into the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
In a rematch of their 2022 edition quarter-final loss to the African giant, USA avenged the loss to advance.
The win makes it the first time USA qualifies to the semi-finals since the inaugural edition in 2008.
USA got their first goal with just a minute left before half-time, after Jocelyn Travers was brought down in the area. Fuller then tucked it away to hand USA the lead.
The second half was just as hard fought as the first, and Nigeria were the ones to craft the first big chance. However, a USA giveaway gifted Taiwo Afolabi a clear chance but she was unable to beat Evan Osteen, who parried the attempt away.
The Flamingos paid dearly for the miss as Fuller found Ascanio, who slotted home to put the win on ice.
