Stephen Curry’s left ankle sprain has put the Warriors’ fans on edge. The injury occurred during the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, when Curry tweaked his ankle while being defended by Kris Dunn. He tried to return in the fourth quarter but ended up exiting the game for good after re-injuring the ankle.
Curry finished the game with 18 points, six assists, and four rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for the Warriors, who lost 112-104 ¹. This isn’t Curry’s first ankle issue, as he’s dealt with regular problems on both his right and left feet throughout his 16-year NBA career.
The good news is that Curry described the injury as “mild or moderate,” but he’ll still undergo an MRI exam as a precaution. The Warriors’ coach, Steve Kerr, also seemed optimistic about Curry’s recovery, saying that Curry doesn’t think it’s too bad.
We’ll have to wait and see how severe the injury is and how long Curry will be out. In the meantime, the Warriors will need to rely on their deep bench to step up and fill the void left by Curry’s absence.
