Liverpool will host Brighton this weekend, aiming to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League from Manchester City.

Arne Slot’s side will face Brighton back-to-back, following their Carabao Cup win over the Seagulls on Wednesday. Liverpool’s recent draw against Arsenal saw them slip from the top of the table, allowing Manchester City to take the lead.

However, with only one league defeat so far, Liverpool remains a strong title contender. Slot has confirmed that Alisson Becker, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, and Federico Chiesa are out with injuries and will not return until after the November international break.

Brighton, meanwhile, has also had a solid start, with only one loss in nine Premier League matches. Currently sixth in the standings, the Seagulls have set their sights on a spot in European competition.

Liverpool continued their impressive form under Arne Slot, progressing in the Carabao Cup midweek. A brace from Cody Gakpo helped Liverpool secure a 3-2 win over Brighton at The AMEX Stadium, just before they meet the Seagulls again this weekend.

Meanwhile, Brighton has been resilient, with only one Premier League loss this season—a 4-2 defeat to Chelsea in September. Fabian Hurzeler, the youngest permanent Premier League manager, has led them well.

Danny Welbeck has been key for Brighton, scoring six goals in nine league games. This season, he has already matched his best scoring record with Brighton, while his Premier League career-best remains nine goals with Manchester United in 2011/12 and 2013/14.

Last Meeting:

The last clash between Liverpool and Brighton ended 3-2 in Liverpool’s favor in the Carabao Cup. After a goalless first half, Gakpo scored twice to give Liverpool the lead. Though Brighton’s Simon Adingra scored, Luis Diaz responded quickly. In the 90th minute, Brighton’s Tariq Lamptey pulled one back, but Liverpool held firm.

Predicted Lineups:

Liverpool: Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez.

Brighton: Verbruggen; Hinshelwood, Veltman, Van Hecke, Estupinan; Wieffer, Baleba, Rutter, Enciso, Mitoma; Welbeck.
