Former Real Madrid star Marcelo has seen his contract terminated by boyhood club, Fluminense, after a wild row with his head coach.
The termination came following the bizarre touchline spat with coach Mano Menezes in the 2-2 draw with league rivals Gremio this weekend.
The former Madrid Left-back reacted angrily to being touched as Menezes was issuing instructions, before substituting him into the game.
However, Menezes cancelled the substitution and banished Marcelo back to the bench, as the pair engaged in a furious exchange.
The action of the Left-back has now resulted in the club cancelling his contract, thereby becoming a free agent.
Meanwhile, Marcelo opted to return to his boyhood club in 2023, after a successful time in Spain and a brief spell with Olympiakos.
He went on to win the Rio de Janeiro state championship and the Copa Libertadores titles with Fluminense.
However, the 36-year-old has been dogged by controversy since his return to Brazil. There have been rumours of the veteran defender also being widely disliked by the Fluminense squad.
Howbeit, Marcelo is unlikely to return to Europe, with the Saudi Pro League and MLS, a possible option for him.
