USA U-17 women defeated England 3-0 in the third-place match at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Goals from Kennedy Fuller, Ainsley McCammon and Maddie Padelski paced USA to victory over England in Dominican Republic.
The victory marked the first time since 2008 that USA finished on the podium at the competition. Losing a spot in the decider, the Americans settled for third, as Fuller wrapped up a stellar tournament, registered four goals and three assists.
USA took the lead in the first half, courtesy of Fuller’s header from Mel Barcenas set up, after Kimmi Ascanio’s effort hit off the crossbar.
Evan O’Steen maintained the lead as she made a fingertip save to deny Nelly Las from levelling for England.
The English side kept mounting pressure for an equaliser in the second half, but USA’s defence held firm.
The Americans then threw the game beyond hope for England as they scored two second-half goals through McCammon and Padelski to secure the bronze title.
