De’Anthony Melton’s season with the Golden State Warriors has come to an unfortunate end. He’s set to undergo surgery to repair a partially torn ACL in his left knee, which will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Melton had been dealing with a sprained left ACL and was weighing his options before deciding on surgery. This is a significant blow to the Warriors, as Melton was averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 20.2 minutes per game. He had also become a key starter alongside Stephen Curry.

The Warriors are deep and have the talent to absorb the loss, but Melton’s absence will still be felt ³. Coach Steve Kerr expressed his disappointment, saying, “It’s terrible news, He’s such a perfect fit for us, and we were so excited to have him”.

In Melton’s absence, Lindy Waters III is expected to take on a more significant role, potentially becoming a regular starter. The Warriors will also explore other lineup combinations to find what works best for them.

Injury Timeline:
– November 12: Melton suffers ACL injury against the Dallas Mavericks
– November 14: Diagnosed with a sprained left ACL
– November 20: Decides on season-ending surgery

This is a tough break for Melton, especially since he was playing well and had become an integral part of the Warriors’ lineup. Hopefully, he’ll make a full recovery and be back on the court soon.
