There are serious issues at Manchester City right now, and a body language expert, Darren Stanton believes Guardiola’s body language after yesterday’s match shows he has no idea how to fix his club.
After the game, Guardiola intentionally cut his nose while scratching himself. He later made a comment about “harming himself” during the press conference.
Darren Stanton analyzed Guardiola’s behavior, saying he appeared frustrated and lost. He pointed out that the manager kept touching his head, shrugging his shoulders, and making hand-to-mouth gestures. Stanton believes this shows he doesn’t know how to turn the team’s poor form around.
Guardiola also used sarcasm when asked about his cuts, which Stanton sees as a way to deflect attention. He believes he is feeling deep distress, thinking he’s doing everything right, but still not getting results. Stanton noted about 20 “red flags” in Guardiola’s behavior, including signs of anger, frustration, and devastation.
He thinks that this behavior, which is far from the confident posture one would expect from a manager, indicates Guardiola feels afraid that he won’t be at City much longer. His anger, disappointment, and signs of conflict with players are also worrying signs.
The situation won’t get easier for the manager, as City faces Premier League leaders Liverpool next. If they lose, they will be 11 points behind the Reds, adding more pressure on Guardiola and his team.
