Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta shots back at reports that the Gunners are planning on selling Gabriel Jesus in the January transfer window.

Gabriel Jesus is having a tough time at Arsenal this season. He has not been getting regular playing time and has mostly come off the bench. So far, he has started only two Premier League matches and has not scored any goals in the league despite playing 12 times. There are rumors that he might leave the club in January.

Kai Havertz has become Mikel Arteta’s preferred choice in attack, which makes it harder for Jesus to regain his starting position. Additionally, Arsenal is also looking at Newcastle striker Alexander Isak as a potential signing. Arteta, however, has stated that he does not plan to sell Jesus despite the rumors.

In a press conference, Arteta said, “No, no sense,” when asked about the possibility of selling Jesus. He acknowledged that every striker goes through ups and downs in performance. Arteta noted that Jesus has faced challenges, such as injuries and not starting many games. However, he praised Jesus’s attitude and said the club will do its best to help him improve his situation.

This season, Jesus has only scored one goal for Arsenal, which was in a Carabao Cup match against Preston in October. His contract with Arsenal runs until 2027, but if he continues to lack playing time, he may seek a transfer, especially since he has also lost his spot on the Brazil national team.

Looking ahead, Jesus will be hoping for more game time on Wednesday when Arsenal plays against Monaco in the Champions League. He has already made four appearances in the competition this term for the Gunners.
