Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold is being linked with a move away from the club, particularly to Real Madrid. However, there are suggestions that he might choose to stay at Liverpool if the team, now managed by Arne Slot, wins the Premier League.
Alexander-Arnold’s current contract with Liverpool is nearing its end, and it hasn’t been renewed. This has led to speculation about his future, especially with Real Madrid’s interest in signing him on a free transfer next summer. Despite the interest, it’s unclear if he will remain at Liverpool or seek a new opportunity elsewhere.
Liverpool is currently performing exceptionally well this season. They are leading the Premier League and have also won all their matches in the Champions League so far. Glen Johnson, a former Liverpool player, believes that if Alexander-Arnold helps the team win the Premier League again, he is likely to sign a new contract.
Johnson said, “If Liverpool win the Premier League, I think he will choose to stay. He doesn’t want to leave, and Liverpool doesn’t want him to go either. However, the longer the contract situation continues without resolution, the less likely it is that he will stay.
Essentially, it looks like he will either remain at Liverpool or join Real Madrid next season. I don’t see him going to any other clubs since Liverpool and Real Madrid are the only teams that can match each other.”
