Bayer Leverkusen have made it six consecutive wins in all competition as they defeated Inter Milan by a lone goal.
Leverkusen’s defender, Nordi Mukiele scored in the last minute of regular time to give the Bundesliga champions the victory over the Seria A champions.
The German side started the game with Nathan Tella as the striker, in absence of Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick. With just two minutes on the clock, the Nigerian crashed his volley against the Inter crossbar, having latched onto a lofted Jeremie Frimpong cross.
Leverkusen continued with the dominance in the first half, although they were unable to create another clear-cut chance all through.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan were quiet as they leaned on the defense all through the first half, with Matej Kovar not making a single save in the first half.
The second interval was no difference as the hosts continued to dominate play and creating the chances.
As the clock ticked down, it looked as though both teams would settle for a point, but a late drama finally broke the Italian resistance.
Alex Grimaldo’s pull back fell kindly to Mukiele, who thumped home from close range to seal a huge victory for Xabi Alonso’s side.
