Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 3-1 win over Lyon to go seven points clear at the top of the table.

The Ligue 1 leaders enjoyed a crucial victory in their last home game in 2024, as they are cruising towards another title defense.

Early goals from Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha put them them in control. However, the visitors reduced the deficit before Goncalo Ramos sealed the victory with his first league goal since returning from injury.

PSG opened the scoring after just eight minutes when Desire Doue made a brilliant run to cut the ball back to Dembele, who slotted home with a composed finish.

The French giants doubled their lead after Corentin Tolisso’s clumsy challenge on the back of Doue resulted in a spot-kick. Vitinha coolly converted to make the scoreline 2-0.

However, Lyon responded with a goal to reduce the lead, courtesy of Georges Mikautadze. The Georgian latched onto a superb pass from Rayan Cherki and calmly chipping on-rushing Gianluigi Donnarumma.

PSG extended the lead shortly after the break with Doue, only to be denied by the offside flag, as Achraf Hakimi had set off too early in the build-up.

However, Ramos finally sealed it, two minutes from time, soon after being brought on as a substitute.

The game was married with danger of being called off or indefinitely suspended, for offensive anti-Lyon chants. However, PSG captain, Hakimi, ran to the fans during the break to try and appease the PSG loyalists.

Following the result, the league champions are now seven points clear at the summit and yet to lose in the league. They are one of only three teams still unbeaten in the top 10 European leagues, alongside Juventus and Galatasaray.
