Barcelona Femeni and Barcelona midfielder, Aitana Bonmati, have claims the 2024 FIFA Best Women’s Player of the Year award.
The creative midfielder made it a back-to-back success, having won the previous award in 2023.
Bonmati was also the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or award, which was also a back-to-back success for her.
She saw off fierce competitions from African Best female footballer, Barbra Banda, and several Barcelona teammates.
The midfielder was pivotal for Barcelona Femeni, as they cruised to glory, defending both the League and Champions League title.
She was also instrumental in the Spain Women team’s success at the first edition of the Women’s Nations League. She went on to score in the final game against France.
Other nominees for the award includes Salma Paralluelo, Ona Batlle, Lucy Bronze, Mariona Caldentey, Tabitha Chawinga, Naomi Girma, Caroline Graham Hansen, Lauren Hemp, Lindsey Horan, Trinity Rodman, Khadija Shaw, Sophia Smith, Mallory Swanson and Keira Walsh.
