Luka Dončić, the Dallas Mavericks’ star guard, is expected to be out for at least a month due to a left calf strain. This injury occurred during Wednesday’s Christmas Day game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, when Dončić suddenly pulled up and started limping in the second quarter. He exited the game and was later seen using crutches while leaving the arena.

Dončić has a history of issues with his left calf, having missed all of this season’s training camp and preseason because of a left calf contusion. This is also the third time he’s strained the calf in recent years. His absence will likely impact the Mavericks’ performance, but the team has shown resilience, going 6-2 in games Dončić has missed this season.

The injury timeline means Dončić will miss at least 15 games and potentially be eliminated from contention for the NBA’s awards, such as MVP and the All-NBA teams. Kyrie Irving, Dončić’s teammate, expressed support for his speedy recovery, saying, “However long the timetable is, we’re going to have to adjust.”
