Napoli defeats Verona, extend lead at top of Serie A

Napoli took a 2-0 home win over Hellas Verona to extend their lead to four points as Seria A leaders.

The hosts took the lead inside five minutes with an own goal from the goalkeeper. A fortuitous attempt as Giorgio Di Lorenzo’s strike hit the post before bouncing back onto Lorenzo Montipo, into the back of the net.

Comfortable Napoli kept threatening for a second as Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Romelu Lukaku sent their efforts narrowly wide.

After the restart, the hosts threatened again with Scott McTominay, and couple of headers from Amir Rrahmani.

However, Napoli sealed the game in the 60th minute through Anguissa, who hammered into the corner from outside the area.

The victory makes it five wins in a row for Napoli, as they extend their lead over Inter Milan and Atalanta.
