The English Premier Football League, EPL, resumed for the new year with different games played on Tuesday night.

The EPL game between Manchester City and Brentford ended in a four-thriller draw. The Citizens again failed to extend their winning streak at the G-Tech Community Stadium against Brentford. Both teams shared spoils in the four-goal thriller as City buried a 2-0 lead scored earlier in the second half with late goals from the hosts.

After a barren first-half draw, Phil Foden opened the scoring moments in the 66th minute, and 12 minutes later, he tapped in a second after Savinho’s shot was saved.

If at that moment Brentford looked beaten, they did not feel it. With one final heave, the pendulum swung: four minutes later, Mads Roerslev’s volleyed centre found Yoane Wissa all alone on the edge of the six-yard box to pull a goal back, and in stoppage time Christian Nørgaard headed Keane Lewis-Potter’s right-wing cross just beyond the grasp of Stefan Ortega.

EPL: Disappointment for Reds in Forest

Liverpool visited Nottingham Forest for a possible revenge for what they faced at the hands of the hosts. The City Ground was electrifying due to the top-table clash between both sides.

Eight minutes into the game, Chris Wood broke the deadlock with a single touch from Anthony Elanga’s decisive pass, which he had received from Callum Hudson-Odoi, who had nicked the ball from Mohammed Salah from the midfield.

But when it was looking as if Nottingham Forest would have gone along with the win, substitute Diogo Jota rescued the Reds from a possible defeat in the 66th minute with a header to Tsimikas’ cross.

Tuesday’s night game was one gruesome moment; Arne Slot wouldn’t want to imagine again in the EPL going forward.
