Romelu Lukaku scored a late header to give Napoli a huge victory in their quest for the Serie A title.
The Belgian’s winning goal earned the Seria A leaders a 3-2 victory over contender, Atalanta.
Atalanta scored first as they took a 16th minute lead, courtesy of Mateo Retegui’s strike. The Italian striker collected Ederson’s pass inside the box before rifling the ball past Alex Meret’s near post.
However, Napoli responded before the break when Matteo Politano fired the ball into the roof of the net.
They extended the lead few minutes later after Scott McTominay converted from Frank Anguissa’s cutback.
Atalanta hit back 10 minutes after the restart through Ademola Lookman. The Nigerian skipped past Matteo Ruggeri’s challenge before sending a left-footed strike past Meret.
However, in the 78th minute, Lukaku gave the visitors the winner. The former Manchester United man brilliantly headed Anguissa’s cross beyond the grasp of Marco Carnesecchi.
Napoli are now six points clear of second-placed Inter Milan. Although Inter have two games in hand over the Partenopei.
