Marcus Rashford’s potential transfer to Barcelona may not happen. This is because the Catalan club is facing financial issues that limit their ability to sign new players.
Initially, Barcelona expressed interest in Rashford. They planned to compete with AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund for him. However, recent reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that Barcelona cannot register Rashford due to their ongoing financial struggles.
To make a signing like Rashford possible, Barcelona would need to sell at least two high-profile players in January. Right now, Ansu Fati is not a regular starter under manager Hansi Flick in the 2024-25 season. Flick has informed Fati that he will have limited playing time. Also, he is not being forced to leave the club; his choice to stay will be respected.
Due to these circumstances, Rashford’s move to Barcelona seems unlikely. Sevilla is interested in acquiring Fati, but a transfer to another La Liga team is complicated. The two clubs have poor relations, making a sale difficult.
Rashford has a couple of options. He can wait for Barcelona to address their transfer situation. Alternatively, he might consider a move to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund is eager to sign him on loan and can manage his hefty salary of £325,000 per week after selling Donyell Malen to Aston Villa.
