Atalanta had a comfortable away win as they thrashed Verona 5-0, with Retegui netting four goals.

La Dea came into this game hoping to keep themselves in the Serie A title race, despite their torrid run of form.

The away side however started the game strongly dominating the opening stages of the match.

Retegui opened the lead for Atalanta after 21 minutes. The Argentine prod home a rebound after Charles De Ketelaere’s effort was denied by the right-post.

The Atalanta’s main man scored his second of the game just four minutes later. Receiving a forward pass from Berat Djimsiti, the striker displayed some excellent footwork before burying the ball in the bottom-right corner.

Things got worse for the host as Atalanta made it 3-0, eight minutes before half-time. Ederson drove forward from midfield before bending an effort from just inside the box.

The visitors continued to dominate play, as the added the fourth goal, courtesy of Retegui. The forward wrapped up his second Serie A hat trick of the season by rifling a strike into the back of the net.

Following the restart of the game,

Retegui once again found the net for a fourth time. A beautiful tiki-taka play met Marten De Roon, who then cut the ball back to Retegui, to place a fantastic finish past the goalkeeper.

Verona came close to scoring a late consolation goal, but an amazing Rui Patricio’s save denied Jackson Tchatchoua.

Atalanta secured the valuable three points to keep them four points behind league leaders Napoli. Meanwhile, Verona sit just three points above the relegation spot.
