Ten Hag Gives Maguire Autonomy Over His Future At United

Manchester United’s manager, Erik Ten Hag has given the team’s first-choice captain, Harry Maguire the freedom to decide whether he’ll depart from the club or stay and fight for a shirt, amidst his lack of playing time.

With the arrival of Lisandro Martinez last summer, coupled with Raphael Varane’s quality, Maguire has been restricted to bench duties, starting only eight Premier League games and making 16 appearances in total in the competition this season.

Speaking to the Times about Maguire’s future, Ten Hag said: “Let’s say I’m happy he’s here and when we needed him he did his job. But it’s also a decision he has to make.

“No one would be happy with this situation – he is not as well. He trains always on the best levels, so with 100% effort. So he handles tbhat situation well and he’s in that manner and his captaincy he’s important for the squad.”

According to multiple sources, Manchester United would listen to offers for Maguire in the window.
