The Turkish Football Federation Arbitration Board has reduced the suspension of Fenerbahce boss, Jose Mourinho from four matches to two.

Mourinho was suspended for his unsportsmanlike statement towards the Galatasaray bench and Turkish referees after their goalless draw on Monday.

In his post-match comments, Mourinho said the Galatasaray bench were “jumping like monkeys. He also stated that the fixture was better for being refereed by Slovenian Slavko Vincic rather than Turkish officials.

Galatasaray then initiated criminal proceedings against the Portuguese man for racist statement.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach was initially banned for four matches and fined £35,000.

However, following Fenerbahce’s appeal, the sentence was reduced to two games by the TFF Arbitration Board.

“In the decision regarding the punishment of Fenerbahçe Futbol A.Ş. Technical Manager Jose Mario Dos Santos Mourinho Felix, who made statements against the members of the opposing team that are against sports ethics and the concept of fair play, with a ban on entering the dressing room and the substitutes bench in 2 official matches and a fine of 1,500,000.00 TL”, the Board stated.

Following the sanction, Mourinho will miss the games against Antalyaspor and Samsunspor.
