Barcelona reclaimed top spot in La Liga with a comfortable victory over 10-man Real Sociedad at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
Goals from Gerard Martín, Marc Casado, Ronald Araujo and Robert Lewandowski gave the Catalans the victory.
Hansi Flick’s side started the game with an edge as Sociedad were reduced to ten men. Defender Aritz Elustondo received a straight red card in the 17th minute for bringing down a goalbound Dani Olmo.
The Blaugranas took advantage of the deficit as they opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Lamine Yamal beats his marker in the box before combining with Olmo to pick out full-back Martin to finish at the back post.
Four minutes later, Casado made it 2-0 as be deflected Olmo’s strike into the back of the net.
The hosts kept on controlling the game in the restart of the game as they claimed the third goal in the 56th-minute, as Araujo headed home Raphinha’s corner.
Lewandowski sealed the rout four minutes after. The Poland striker stuck out a foot to direct Araujo’s shot beyond a helpless Alex Remiro.
Barcelona reclaimed the top spot, restoring a one-point advantage over Atletico Madrid. They also extended their winning run to six games.
