Borussia Dortmund and Lille played a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.

Hakon Arnar Haraldsson scored the equaliser as Lille fought back to earn a draw at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund had taken the lead through a brilliant strike from Karim Adeyemi in a first half. The German attacker whipped a straight half volley inside the bottom left corner in the 22nd minute, from a corner kick clearance.

Niko Kovac’s side had the ball in the back of the net from a corner again before the break. However, the visitors were saved by the offside flag after Pascal Gross turned in from close range.

Lille however levelled the contest few minutes after the hour clock. Iceland midfielder, Haraldsson, ran on to a through ball from Jonathan David and poked past Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

The game almost went wide as Lille substitute Andre Gomes escaped a late red card for an awful challenge on Daniel Svensson. The Swedish was later forced off with an injury as the visitors held on.

Both teams will hope to win the return clash, as Dortmund travels to France next Wednesday.
