Al-Nassr defeated Iranian side, Esteghlal 3-0 in the second leg, to book their place in the AFC Champions League Elite quarter-finals.

Having been held to a disappointing draw in the first leg against their Iranian opponents, Al-Nassr ensured they reached the last eight, with Ronaldo’s penalty and Duran’s brace.

Al-Nassr went ahead early into the goal following a poor clearance by Esteghlal goalkeeper Hossein Hosseini. The Iranian’s clearance was picked Duran, who lobbed the ball into the net in the 9th minute.

The Saudi side doubled the lead before the half-hour mark from the spot kick. Sadio Mane was fouled inside the area by Mohammad Niknafs, and Ronaldo made it count with a beautiful lob.

The Iranian side went from bad to worse as they were reduced to 10-man in first-half stoppage time. Mehran Ahmadi was sent off after picking up his second yellow card when he caught Mohammed Al-Fatil in the face with a flailing arm.

The hosts continued to dominate the contest after the break, as they pushed for the third goal. Ayman Yahya saw his effort cleared off the line, with Duran striking the woodwork on the follow-up.

However, the former Aston Villa forward got his second in the 84th minute, as he received the ball from Angelo, before finding the bottom corner.

Al-Nassr are through to the quarters of the competition for the fifth time in their history.
