Josh Giddey’s night was cut short during the Chicago Bulls’ 121-103 win over the Indiana Pacers. He suffered a sprained ankle, the same one he injured while playing for Australia in the Olympics last summer. Giddey had an impressive game before the injury, scoring a season-high 29 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The injury occurred when Giddey landed awkwardly on his right ankle midway through the fourth quarter. He was in obvious pain as he hopped off the court and went to the locker room. Bulls coach Billy Donovan expressed concern, but the team won’t know the severity of the injury until further evaluation.
Giddey’s performance before the injury was impressive, marking his eighth double-double in nine games. The 22-year-old guard was coming off a triple-double Saturday at Miami, with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists.
