Bayern Munich sealed their place in the Champions League quarter-finals with a comfortable 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen.
The Bavarians made it a 5-0 victory on aggregate, having won 3-0 in the first-leg, before the return leg win. Harry Kane went on to make history in the second tie.
Bayern started the game as the better side and almost went ahead early on. Michael Olise and Kingsley Coman came close to opening the lead in the first half.
Vincent Kompany’s side eventually broke the deadlock in the second-half, as Kane scored to mark his 10th goal in the Champions League this season. The English striker bundled home Patrik Schick’s attempted clearance from a Joshua Kimmich free-kick.
Kane is therefore the first English player to reach double figures in a single edition of the tournament.
The former Tottenham striker also turned provider, assisting Alphonso Davies’ 71st-minute effort. The Canadian left-back headed home Kane’s cross to seal a 5-0 aggregate win.
Bayern almost cruised on with more, but were unlucky to only hit the crossbar, with Kane and Jamal Musiala’s late efforts.
Kompany’s Bayern will be facing Inter in the quarterfinals after they progressed past Feyenoord.
The Bavarians will hope to avenge their 2010 UCL final loss at the hands of the Nerazzuris.
