Real Madrid progressed to the Copa del Rey final, after an incredible triumph over Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Having won 1-0 away from home in the first leg, Madrid played a 4-4 draw, with Antonio Rudiger’s header as the decider to win 5-4 on aggregate.

Sociedad opened the lead in the 16th minute, after Ander Barrenetxea finished well, after being played in by Pablo Marin.

Despite a below-par performance, Madrid managed to equalise through Endrick Felipe. The young Brazilian, who was played through by Vinicius’ trivela forward pass, calmly controlled the ball towards the goalkeeper and chipped it in to make it 1-1.

The game got tied on aggregate in the 72nd minute, as the ball deflected off David Alaba into his own net, to give La Real the lead.

Madrid looked to be crashing out as Sociedad made it 3-1 in the 80th minute. Takefusa Kubo made a run into the box before cutting back for Mikel Oyarzabal to fire home for the visitors.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side got back into the contest two minutes after as Jude Bellingham found the back of the net from Vinicius’ assist.

The hosts then turned the game around with Aurelien Tchouameni’s header, from Rodrygo’s corner-kick in the 86th minute.

However, the game was dragged into extra-time as Sociedad scored in the third minute of stoppage time courtesy of Oyarzabal.

Los Blancos eventually settled the contest in the 115th minute, as Rudiger headed home Arda Guler’s corner-kick, sending Ancelotti’s side into the final.

Real Madrid will then take on the winner between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in the showpiece event.
