Barcelona thrashed Borussia Dortmund 4-0 to earn a comfortable advantage in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

The Catalans displayed a sensational performance at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, to put one foot in the Champions League semi-finals.

A brace from Robert Lewandowski and goals from Raphinha and Lamine Yamal gave Hansi Flick’s side the victory.

The Spanish giant dominated the game from the start, as Raphinha opening the scoreline in the 25th minute. The Brazilian got a slim touch to poke in Pau Cubarsi’s effort to make it 1-0.

Dortmund should have equalised just before half time as Serhou Guirassy fluffed a big chance. However, the German side were made to pay as Barcelona doubled their advantage only three minutes into the second period. Yamal crossed for Raphinha, who headed back across goal for Robert Lewandowski to score from close range.

Barcelona got their third goal of the evening, courtesy of Lewandowski once again. A brilliant move ended with Fermin Lopez cutting the ball back to the Polish striker, who scored to make it his 105 Champions League goals.

The Catalans took the contest beyond reach as they made it 4-0 in the 77th minute. Raphinha played in Yamal, and the 17-year-old made no mistake to cap off a wonderful performance.

With a foot in the semis, the Spanish league leaders will travel confidently to Signal Iduna for the second leg. The winner will be facing either of Bayern Munich or Inter Milan.
