Inter Milan enjoyed a 3-1 triumph over Cagliari at San Siro to tighten their grip on top spot in Serie A.
Goals from Marko Arnautovic, Lautaro Martinez and Yann Bisseck gave Simone Inzaghi’s side the victory.
The win moved them six points clear at the summit, with second-placed Napoli not playing until Monday when they face Empoli.
Inter got an early lead as Arnautovic put the hosts ahead after 13 minutes, blasting home from close range, following a defensive mix-up.
Cagliari almost got the equaliser when Roberto Piccoli was one-on-one with Yann Sommer. However, his tame effort was parried by the hosts’ goalkeeper.
The visitors were made to pay for their miss as Inter doubled the lead seconds later. Martinez, who was fed in by Arnautovic, chipped a fine finish over Elia Caprile to make it 2-0.
Cagliari later pulled one back three minutes into the second half when Piccoli sent a free header into the top-left corner.
The league leaders then sealed the victory in the 55th minute, when Yann Bisseck rose highest at a corner to head in their third.
Inter ensured the scoreline remained same, with Stefan de Vrij making a late block on the line to keep out Piccoli once more.
With six games remaining in the title race, Inter are in a strong position at the top of the table. The defending champions will hope to reclaim their title.
