Inter Milan advanced to the semi-final of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, as they saw off Bayern Munich.
Having won 2-1 in the first leg, Inter secured a 2-2 draw at the San Siro to claim a 4-3 victory on aggregate.
Simone Inzaghi’s side played a goalless draw in the first half, holding on to their first-leg win as advantage.
However, Vincent Kompany’s side struck few minutes into the second-half to give Bayern the lead, while levelling on aggregate. Harry Kane sent a low strike into the bottom left corner to give bring the Germans into the game.
The Italians then responded six minutes later to restore their aggregate win. Lautaro Martinez sparked Inter back to life in the 58th minute, as he lashed home from six yards as the ball dropped kindly for him from a corner.
The Seria A champions then sent their home fans wild as they found the net again three minutes later. Another corner from for the Italians was met by Benjamin Pavard, whose powered header against his former side gave Inter the lead.
Bayern tried to get back into the game as the drew level in the return leg, with 14 minutes remaining, courtesy of Eric Dier’s looping back-post header from a tight angle.
However, the 2-2 draw wasn’t enough for Vincent Kompany’s Bayern as they crashed out of the tournament, losing on aggregate.
Inter Milan will then face Spanish giants, Barcelona, in the semi final of the competition.
