Manchester United has dispatched scouts to closely observe two players from Atalanta; midfielder Ederson and attacker Mateo Retegui.
Reports from TuttoAtalanta indicate that the scouts were present during Atalanta’s recent match against AC Milan, specifically looking to evaluate the potential signing of both players. With Ruben Amorim at the helm, United appears to be laying the groundwork for a summer squad overhaul, with early contact made with the representatives of Ederson and Retegui.
Ederson, a key player for Atalanta, has made a significant impact in Serie A, contributing to the team’s tactics across 44 appearances this season and netting five goals. The Brazilian international’s skill set makes him an attractive target, not only for Manchester United but also for rivals like Manchester City.
On the other hand, Mateo Retegui has been nothing short of prolific, amassing an impressive tally of 23 goals and providing nine assists in just 31 league matches since his move from Genoa for €28 million (£24m/$32m) last summer. Given his remarkable performance, Atalanta stands to gain considerably if United formalizes their interest.
