Official: Liverpool Completes The Signing Of Szoboszlai From Leipzig

Liverpool has completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from German side, RB Leipzig on a five-year deal.

The Reds completed the signing of the Hungarian by triggering his €70m release clause, making him their second summer signing after previously acquiring Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 22-year-old spent two-and-a-half years in the Bundesliga with Leipzig, where he made 91 appearances in all competitions.

Speaking to the club’s media after signing the dotted lines, Szoboszlai said: “It’s really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better.

“The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But in the end, I’m here, I’m happy and I can’t wait to get started.

“[A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me, it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”

Set to wear the number 8 jersey that was previously worn by Naby Keita and Steven Gerrard respectively, Szoboszlai said: “I will be number 8 as I have a tattoo from Steven Gerrard. That was the reason why. He was one of the biggest when I was a child.”

In all of his 91 appearances for Leipzig, the 22-year-old scored 20 goals and notched 22 assists in all competitions, helping the Bundesliga club to successive DFB-Pokals in 2022 and 2023 campaigns.
