According to multiple sources, Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Harvey Barnes from Leicester City for a fee around the region of £35m.
It is expected that Newcastle will submit their first bid for Barnes over the next few days, with the player said to be keen on joining the Champions League-bound club.
Leicester are thought to value Barnes at around £40 million, but Newcastle are hoping to pay closer to £35 million which is expected to be agreed.
The Foxes are resigned to losing Barnes, after cashing out on James Maddison, as the club prepares for life in the championship.
Barnes scored 13 Premier League goals for Leicester last season, despite the club’s inability to stay afloat in the topflight league.
Selling Barnes will mean that Leicester will have secured around £80 million in transfer fees for him and James Maddison, who joined Tottenham Hotspur.
The club has also secured moves for Conor Coady and Harry Winks to the King Power Stadium, and are reportedly interested in Swansea striker Joel Piroe, who has also been linked with Everton.
