According to CEO Giorgio, signing Christian Pulisic has resulted in a significant boost in shirt sales for AC Milan in the United States. Pulisic left Chelsea for Milan in a £17 million ($22 million) transfer this month and now wears the No. 11 jersey in his new club. Rossoneri shirts have been selling like hotcakes in the 24-year-old’s native country, and the club is expecting that demand will only increase.
He said: “We saw a big uptake in terms of interest in the U.S. The AC Milan shirts we sold in the U.S. in the week after Pulisic signed, 90%-plus were No. 11 Pulisic. We definitely saw that and hopefully it will continue. I’m sure it will.”
At Chelsea, Pulisic had trouble getting started. Last season, he played in 24 Premier League games, but just eight of those were as a starter. However, he seems to be off to a strong start in Italy after recording two assists against Lumezzane in a friendly and then another against Real Madrid. When Italy’s Serie A season begins on August 21, the USMNT star will be try to create a good impression.
