The USWNT, according to Lynn Williams, are not freaked out at the Women’s World Cup and have more reason to be thrilled about their star-studded team than anything else. The defending champions are off to a sluggish start in the defense of their world title, with Vlatko Andonovski’s team stumbling into the round of 16 after finishing second in their group.

Questions have been raised about the attitude of players both on and off the field, but those in charge of producing successful outcomes are ignoring the “noise” from the outside world. Williams asserts that there are many reasons for hope, with critics being disregarded as the all-conquering Americans start moving up the gears.

Williams, with 54 caps to her name, has said of the mindset inside the USWNT camp: “We are not panicking. I think that we haven’t played our best soccer yet, which is the most exciting part for us.”

The United States defeated Vietnam 3-0 in their opening match of the 2023 Women’s World Cup, but they were then held to a 1-1 draw by the Netherlands and a goalless draw with Portugal, with just little gap standing between them and elimination from the tournament.

The USWNT is currently getting ready for their match against Sweden in the round of 16, while teams like Norway, Japan, and Spain are waiting on their side of the draw.
