Kyle Walker has declined the opportunity to join Bayern Munich in favor of staying at Manchester City. The England defender has ultimately decided against accepting a transfer to Bayern.
Walker had verbally agreed to join Bayern earlier in the sumer, but the Bundesliga champions and City could not come to an agreement on the transfer fee. He reportedly had a change of heart after chatting with City manager Pep Guardiola.
He is now considering a second, higher contract offer from the treble champions than Bayern had made. Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, two players with extensive experience, have already left City, and Guardiola is concerned about losing Walker as well.
The club cannot afford to lose a third defender, especially because the European champions are also expected to split ways with Aymeric Laporte and Joao Cancelo. On Friday, the Premier League champions travel to Burnley to start their championship defense.
