Sixsports Predicts: 2023/24 Premier League Top 5 Prediction

The 2023-24 Premier League season will kick off on August 11 and i know we’re excited to embark on another intriguing football journey. However, success comes to the brave, or the , depending on your point of view.

The rest of the Premier League sides will try to compete with City for a run for their money. The most prominent teams have done good business in the January summer transfer window and have boosted their ranks to give themselves a better chance this season.

Without further ado, here’s sixsports  prediction for the Premier League’s top 5 positions ahead of the 2023-24 season.

1. Manchester City

Man City emerged champions last season. It is not out of place to see them winning a sixth title in seven seasons as they look to follow up their Treble with more success. Having Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne and a couple of other good players, there is a high possibility that they become champions again.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side will look to become the first team in the history of English football to win the league title four consecutive times. Keeping up with the absolute juggernaut they’ve created has become a massive task in itself, let alone surpassing them.

The big-game influence of Ilkay Gundogan is gone, along with the match-winning style of Riyad Mahrez, but a squad of frightening strength remains. With the addition of Croat duo Mateo Kovacic, who is reliable in midfield, and Josko Gvardiol, who talent scout tip for future greatness, they are good to go.

2. Liverpool

Liverpool took 5th position last season. Approximately a year after winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, Jurgen Klopp’s team failed last season. Suggestions of a hangover sounded eerily like justifications for performing below expectations.

The Saudi Pro League’s use of its checkbook interfered with Klopp’s plans, resulting in Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson’s exit. So his list will now include Southampton’s Romeo Lavia, World Cup champion Alex Mac Allister of Argentina and talented Dominik Szoboszlai.

Given their offensive might, which includes Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez, we anticipate a Liverpool comeback this season.

3. Arsenal

Arsenal emerged 2nd just behind Man City in 2022/23 Premier League campaign. Last season, Arsenal was  impressive most of the time before faltering under constant siege from Manchester City.

Arsenal seem to have improved under Mikel Arteta. Their form and style have changed from what it used to be. Recently, they have had a couple of transactions in the summer market in a bid to improve.

Declan Rice was acquired for a huge sum, possibly worth £105 million, but he will be an excellent addition to the midfield. Arteta also spent a lot of money on Kai Havertz, who cost Chelsea £65 million. Considering the quality of players in Arsenal presently; Bukayo Saka, captain Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli…., if they don’t become champions, they would be part of the top 3.

4. Manchester United

It’s been 10 long years since Manchester United were last champions of England. But after finishing third last campaign, the Red Devils will put in all their best to end that title drought this season.

Manchester United have done a very impressive job this summer. The additions of Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana, coupled with promising Rasmus Hojlund, they are sure to take a more formidable stance than last season.

Erik ten Hag did a commendable job in his debut season and now it seems like he has all he needs to fully implement his vision. A couple more players are expected to be signed before the summer transfer window closes and there’s no genuine reason why United should do worse than last season. The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro will once again perform wonders.

5. Chelsea

Chelsea are another team that remain a work in progress. They were kind of inconsistent last season, finishing in 12th placein 2022/23 Premier League. But presently, they can be said to have improved considering the quality of players signed during the January transfer window.

The Blues have hired former Tottenham and PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino, to provide stability to their side. He has decided to make major changes to his squad, shipping off Havertz, Kovavic, Mount, Kalidou Koulibaly, Christian Pulisic, Edouard Mendy, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek during the transfer window.

Chelsea are now being led by Mauricio Pochettino after the repetitive misery of last season, during which three managers – Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Frank Lampard – took turns in charge.

The revolving door has continued spinning this summer. Cesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Kalidou Koulibay and N’Golo Kante have all gone, while the evident loopholes from last season’s spree has been corrected with the acquisitions of strikers Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.

There is undoubted talent in the squad in £107m Enzo Fernandez, while Mykhailo Mudryk will hope to show his true form. Levi Colwill could be a big star in defence, having signed a new deal after his success on loan at Brighton last season.

Chelsea míght be nowhere near the title, but we do believe Pochettino will give them a better stance thus making it almost impossible for them to be ruled out of a silverware at least.
