Piers Morgan blames Erik ten Hag for Christiano Ronaldo’s departure from Manchester United. He asserts that Ronaldo is stronger and more fit than ever. In their Saudi Pro League match against Al Fateh, the Portuguese had scored three of Al Nassr’s five goals.
Sadio Mane, a former Liverpool and Bayern Munich forward, also scored twice in the 5-0 onslaught. His success stands in stark contrast to that of his old side United, who have only scored once in their opening two Premier League games of the new campaign. Outspoken media personality Morgan has mocked manager Ten Hag for his decision to fire the attacker halfway through the previous campaign.
He said: “As Cristiano Ronaldo scores three goals and provides a brilliant assist for Mane, whilst looking fitter and hungrier than ever, a reminder that Erik ‘I’m a genius, just ask me’ Ten Hag deemed him surplus to requirements for a Manchester United team which can’t hit a barn door.”
Although Morgan’s joke won’t change people’s minds about Ten Hag’s choice, United are still having trouble scoring goals at the start of this season and went goalless in their previous match against Tottenham. Rasmus Hojlund’s transfer from Atalanta is expected to bolster the front line, but since the Danish international is now sidelined with an injury, it’s unclear who will step up in his place.
When Al Nassr plays Al Shabab next, Ronaldo will try to increase his goal total for the year, while Ten Hag will be hoping for more goals from United as they play Nottingham Forest this weekend.
