After Chelsea’s 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over AFC Wimbledon, Mauricio Pochettino expressed optimism on injury  Levi Colwill picked during the match. Following Colwill’s injury in the cup match, the Argentine manager has given a comforting report on his status.

Although the player quickly headed down the tunnel after being replaced by Malo Gusto in the 65th minute, Pochettino dismissed concerns of a serious injury and described it as a “small problem.”

He said: “No, he’s not injured. It’s not a big issue, small problem. He got ice on his ankle but it’s not going to be a problem for the weekend.”

After falling, the Blues had to work hard to win, but Noni Madueke and Enzo Fernandez saved the London team. Pochettino defended his team and stated that he is going to trust the players despite the underwhelming performance by his soldiers.

He added: “I think we are talking very negative, too many Premier League teams are out of the competition and I think we need to talk about the positive things.”

“I think the players we have, we are going to trust in them, with them we won the game. Maybe we should score more, but the game was under control”

The third-round matchup between Chelsea and Brighton will take place at Stamford Bridge on September 26. Prior to that, they had a Saturday Premier League match against Nottingham Forest to complete.
