Following his first start for Manchester United yesterday night, Sofyan Amrabat has declared that he’s capable of playing anywhere Erik Ten Hag wishes, and he’d even go as far as shot-stopping for the side.

The Moroccan international who arrived on loan from Florentina in the closing hours of the last summer transfer window just got handed his first start in a United jersey yesterday, having recovered from a minor back injury that has kept him away from action since his arrival.

Amrabat’s debut for United was in a left-back position in a cameo appearance against Burnley last weekend. The versatile midfielder however got more playing time in diverse roles in United’s win against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup last night, impressing the crowd with his performances.

“I told the manager I will play where [he] needs me and where the team needs me, even if it is a goalkeeper!” the 27-year-old told Sky Sports at full time.

“I play where I can help the team, today it was left-back.

“I had a bit of a free role, I think you saw I played a bit in midfield, so it was nice, it was good.”

Speaking on the 3-0 win over Palace, he added: “I think it was a perfect night.

“We played very well and, most importantly, we won 3-0. I played one hour, so I think it was perfect.”

“Since I was a child I worked for this [moment],”

“I worked very hard for my whole career and life [for this], so it was amazing to play here.

“Today is a Tuesday and the stadium was full, it is fantastic.”

Sofyan Amrabat will be looking to build on his starting performances for United, and get 100% fit, having admitted he’s far from the destination yesterday.

“I am fit but not 100 per cent yet,” he admitted. “But I think that is normal.

“I have not had a perfect pre-season, because of the transfer and everything, but I’m working very hard now to get there and I think the game today was a good game for me. A next step and I hope to continue like this and I will do everything to be, as soon as possible, 100 per cent”
