Chelsea’s manager Mauricio Pochettino aims to ignite the club’s momentum with the narrow 1-0 win secured against Brighton & Hove Albion in the third round of the Carabao Cup yesterday.
The Blues who have been frustratingly unproductive in recent games managed to iron out the win against Roberto De Zerbi’s side at Stamford Bridge yesterday, through Nicolas Jackson’s goal in the 50th minute, before his second was chopped off for offside minutes later.
“It was a good response from the team; I’m very pleased with the performance again,” Pochettino reacted to the win.
The Argentine manager continued: “I’m happy for the victory and I think it’s important to go through in the competition, build our trust and the momentum. Hopefully, we can take this momentum into the future.
“It’s never easy to play in the situation and circumstance. Today was a must-win.
“‘Of course, the uncertainty and sometimes the pressure to win means not to be perfect in our positions [on the pitch]. But I think in the second half we dominated the game and fully deserved the victory.”
Chelsea will take on Blackburn in the next stage of the competition, while they’ll be looking to grab a decent result when they visit Fulham at the Craven Cottage on October 2nd.
