The Three Lions of England Manager, Gareth Southgate has given his opinion about the glitch in the VAR decision surrounding Luis Daz’s disallowed goal against Tottenham last Saturday.

Southgate who has chosen his England squad for upcoming matches against Australia and Italy went on to say he “doesn’t like it”. He notes that it would have been perfect to just accept the decisions of on-field match officials but the world has advanced past that.

Southgate said to Sky sports: “My first experience of it… we’re still not sure if the Jesse Lingard goal that knocked us out of a semi-final was legit or not, I don’t like it. I think we should just accept referees’ decisions, but I also know that we’re unlikely to go back to a world where we don’t have technology as part of that decision-making process.”

“It was never going to resolve every issue and I don’t think there is any solution that will achieve that.”

Liverpool are currently requesting that the 2-1 loss to Tottenham be replayed. With Jürgen Klopp arguing that the error is so “unprecedented” that it is the only fair solution.

Klopp had said: when asked about the incident and how Liverpool would like to proceed: “Something like this never happened, so that is why I think a replay is the right thing to do”. On Thursday, Liverpool will play Union SG in the Europa League.
