West Ham rescued a thrilling point on Sunday afternoon against Newcastle, it ended 2-2 at the London Stadium.

The emotional impact of Newcastle’s midweek win against PSG looked to influence West Ham early on, with Tomas Soucek scoring from close range in the eighth minute after Lucas Paqueta rounded goalkeeper Nick Pope before putting in an inviting cross to the Czech midfielder.

However, the London side’s doom started three minutes before the hour mark as West Ham player Edson Alvarez mistakenly headed a Newcastle free kick right to Alexander Isak for the Swede to convert calmly.

Then, in the 62nd minute, Isak was on hand to tap in Kieran Trippier’s volleyed cross from the right flank to put the Magpies in front.

But West Ham thwarted the progressive moments of the Magpies thanks to Mohammed Kudus’ first Premier League goal in the 89th minute.

It took the Ghanaian just 15 minutes of action after replacing the Hammers first goalscorer Tomas Soucek in the 76th minute.

The Ghana forward, who has primarily played as a substitute since signing from Ajax, tucked home a low finish from the edge of the box to cancel Alexander Isak’s brace in a five-minute spell.
