Manchester United bounced back from their disappointing UCL loss to Copenhagen to midweek to secure a much-needed 1-0 home win over Luton Town today.
The Red Devils looked like a side on a mission to harvest goals early in the encounter, having 85% possession in the opening 15 minutes, only for Rasmus Højlund to be denied his first EPL goal by a superb save from Thomas Kaminski.
United continued to press on, but were pegged by Luton’s resurgence which prompted Andre Onana to make a fine save before Alejandro Garnacho wasted a glorious opportunity to put his side ahead before the halftime break.
The second half was entirely different from the first, as Erik ten Hag’s men continued to dominate possession with zero clinical efforts in front of goal. Nonetheless, the hosts broke the deadlock in the 59th minute when Marcus Rashford’s cross fell onto the path of Victor Lindelof who brilliantly fired his side ahead.
United did come close to doubling the lead minutes later through Scott McTominay, but the Scottish header was saved by Luton’s goalkeeper to see United cart all three points with Lindelof’s lone goal.
